Public Sector Solutions

Local governments face complex, evolving challenges in community development, permitting, and land management. The goal of this project was to modernize a legacy SaaS suite for public administration, creating a streamlined, intuitive experience across both desktop and mobile platforms.

My Role

As the full-time Product Designer, UX Lead, I played a hybrid role that included Product Design, UX Leadership, and Front-end Development. This comprehensive involvement was critical to guiding the project from its foundational strategy to its final execution.

Deliverables & key actions

Product strategy & requirements

I conducted in-depth user research to understand the core challenges faced by government staff and field contractors. This research informed the product strategy and was translated into clear product requirements.

Ideation & design

I led the ideation process to generate innovative solutions for common pain points. This led to the creation of a clean and uncomplicated user experience, which was then prototyped in hi-fidelity to test and refine the design.

UX/UI design & front-end development

I oversaw the complete redesign of both desktop and mobile interfaces. A key focus was on simplifying the mobile workspace to improve ease of use for contractors in the field. I also contributed to the front-end implementation to ensure the design vision was executed with precision.

The redesigned platform fundamentally changed the public administration experience. We delivered a solution that was not only more intuitive but also unified in its branding, making it stand out from competitors.

Hi-fidelity prototyping

Using the insights gained from the evaluation and mapping processes, I created a dynamic, clickable prototypes that mimicked the functionality of a live site. These prototypes not only showcased the future capabilities but also allowed for customization options that would empower users to create tailored funnels, access real-time regional mapping, and analyze contractor and permit data.

Visual design and design systems

Emphasis was placed on creating an intuitive user experience, allowing administrators to navigate quickly and find the information they needed to engage with contractors in the field.
